Follow in the steps of Pickman and sketch a monstrous ghoul.* A unique opportunity to make your own pieces of art and get to know a horror from London’s corpse-filled graveyard.

You are invited to participate in a life drawing class with Pickman’s notorious model. It will offer advice, critique, and an opportunity to discuss existence with a horrible parody of humanity.

Come and join an interactive immersive show by Leo Doulton, creator of the Uncanny Things trilogy and Associate Creative Director of The Key of Dreams. What is worst in humanity, and can you ever forgive it?

*Artistic talent is not required. Being human is.

I flatter myself that a lot of the things I wanted to explore in this piece are expressed in the show description.

This show pleases me in a number of ways.

1. It was a part of my residency at the London Lovecraft Festival 2025.

2. It continued an exploration I've been working on for a while - what are known social structures that aid interaction?

3. It was gentle and slow.

For this was an art class. People did short sketches, then longer studies, and then finally a longer portrait.

And in those phases, they discussed what their monstrous teacher had done, what was monstrous, and whether forgiveness, mercy, or justice could ever be offered to it.

I like to think that I made a place for such discussions to truly happen.
