Queer Renaissance (2025)

Queer Renaissance (2025)

Gay's The Word, 16th February 2025

This was another salon presenting historic queer work, using the tools of interactive theatre to try and recreate some sense of their original performance content while having fun.

Here, it was an absurd world of rivalries, romantic and artistic, patronage, and familial bonds. Which seemed rather fun for the audience, and its creators.

The music was beautiful - and one thing I find interesting is that, by giving defined space to audience frivolity, the more recital-like sections seemed to get more engagement, as though the audience had opened themselves more emotionally than they would if they walked into a concert venue, made small talk, and then sat in silence.

Perhaps something to explore more.

Thank you for reading this.
